Toenails? Who needs em....

Saturday's run was one of the toughest, yet most fulfilling things I've ever done in my life! I feel so fortunate to be a part of this death defying marathon adventure! I'm not going to lie, I wasn't sure I'd make it those last two lap around Sugarhouse park. My body was telling me no and Jen was telling me yes ;) And let me tell you, thanks to the encouragement of Kristi and the "you have no choice, rar!" attitude of Jen... I did it (very slowly, but that's besides the point).

Kera and I figured out the last 2 laps that we should never be left alone together... that can only lead to our psychological downfall, but we did our best to keep positive and we finished all 11 miles! ahhhh! 11 miles. I cannot even begin to tell you what a huge deal that is for me. I've never run so far and had such a great time doing it. The feeling is indescribable. If this is even a glimpse of how I might feel when I finish that grueling 26.2 miles.... bring it on! It's so worth it, even though when I got up this morning my muscles felt as if they had solidified over night and one of my toenails has turned black and I'm sure is about to fall off. I don't need toenails, I ran 11 miles!!!! But I may need new shoes, what do you think?

Thanks girls, especially Jen and Kera for making me hang in there!

P.S. gangsta?? lol. how'd i end up the gangsta?

yeah, I was wondering about the gangsta thing too...just go with it I guess. and how cute would it be if we had matching dead toenails!!! We should take a picture. Mine is the pointer toe on my left foot. and unfortunately, that means you need bigger shoes:( I was thinking about running today with you (monday) but as I'm sure you've already seen its a freaking blizzard, so maybe do you know an inside track???

Blame Kristi for the nickname. And, you and Kera need to plan a date to go to SL running company, pronto! Way to Go Kimmie! I'm so proud of you for sticking it out without punching me in the face!

Kimmie, yeah! I'm so proud of you and that you are a part of this! I would recommend going to get fitted for shoes. It makes a 110% difference. Great job on saturday!

Oh & gangsta. I don't know. I think b/c I called you that with your big pants on the first run. Any other names you would like...

The first time I lost a toenail from running, I was secretly happy because I felt like that made me a "real" runner.

Congrats on the long run!

I've never lost a toenail, and I've done 2 half marathons and lots of trail running. They told me at the shoe store that you have to wear shoes that are a full size larger than your dress shoes, so I do.

Do they hurt? I guess I would wear them as a badge of mighty running goddessness if I had them, but they sound painful.
